On Saturday, January 7, 2012, Louise Devenish hosted the Devenish Group members and friends of Louise's for a wonderful celebration to kick off the new year and in honor of Joanne Mazzeo's birthday. A wonderful time was had by all, young and old, with our youngest guest being Emily Baker, daughter of Sandra and George Baker.
The evening was filled with delicious Eastern European fare including a special salad of walnuts, chicken and cilantro; a beet, cucumber and herring salad; empanadas; and tasty desserts including carrot cake, raspberry shortbread cookies and flan with fresh fruit. Of course no celebration is complete without delicious champagne which toasted to many more wonderful celebrations with the Devenish Group.
The highlight of the evening was the swaying live music from The Bosanovas of Pittstown, New Jersey which consist of the sax, keyboard and acoustic guitar. The Bosanovas accompanied the first performance of the evening by Louise Devenish as she belly danced her way around the living room to greet her guests with the coin scarf, the first opened regift, around her head and castagnetts in both hands. Louise set the stage by presenting the scarf to Kathy Rosenblatt who was charged with a second dance with the scarf and thus the tradition continued until every guest led an individual ceremonial dance. Even Emily danced with her father adorned with the coin scarf as well as the bartender. Every guest received his five minutes of fame in Riverdale that evening with the now famous coin scarf!
What a wonderful entertaining evening and gathering of such a hybrid of talented folks, each with such different interests and backgrounds, yet all connected by the arts! Cheers to the exiting new innovative site that will truly revolutionize the way all facets of the art world will connect and provide a forum for every sector of the art world to come together and truly connect. This is The Devenish Group!
